Talkfest is a monthly seminar series where renowned practising architects are invited. It aims to create a dialogue between the guest speaker and the students ,giving them exposure to various architects and their style of working.
The speaker for the talkfest held on 24th Nov’17 was Maria Arquero de Alarcon. She has a background in Landscape and Urban Planning. Currently she is an associate professor of architecture and urban regional planning in University of Michigan. Her expertise focuses on role of visual representation as mode of inquiry and spatial thinking, a platform to enable design synthesis across geographies, scales and disciplinary cultures.
She spoke about urban planning and urban design with relevance to landscape. Currently she is working on mapping of Narmada River and the impact of on-going developments in the ecology settlements in the catchment areas in collaboration with University of Michigan.

Ar. Aashana Shah from KRVIA, will present 'The Subaltern Speaks- The others and the City. She is the recipient of Charles Correa Gold Medal 2017.Ar.Pranali Shah from Academy of Architecture, will present 'Revival of the Old Town Leh'. She was one of the top ten nominees for Charles Correa Gold Medal for best thesis, 2017.
Ravi is the Co-foundr of Edifice. HE is the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions from within the fraternity.Ravi has been instrumental in growing Edifice to current pre-eminent position within the profession.
Ar. Ravi Sarangan started the session by talking about the importance of values for an architect.He addressed the use of glass and other building materials in the Indian context. He discussed in detail the development process of facades using glass and other materials as well as shading devices keeping in mind the site context. This was further explained through his projects Institute for T.C.S., Hyderabad and Akshaya Urja Bhavan, New Delhi and many more.
Ar. Nitin Killawala. the students got an insight of the school designed by the architect. The session concluded with how colours affect the design of a structure.
